Consumer Lab Reports Phony Joint Supplements

It does matter what brand you select when purchasing joint supplements. ConsumerLab reports " ...eight supplements for osteoarthritis failed ConsumerLab's testing. Four of had less than 8% of their listed amounts of key ingredients, including a "maximum strength" product that contained no chondroitin at all. Three others had only 52% to 75% of listed ingredients. One failed because it would not properly break apart to release its glucosamine and chondroitin."

Eight brands of twenty-nine tested did not pass their tests. The twenty-nine tested are:

Advocare Nature's Plus
Bronson NSI
Country Life Nutri Vet
Cosamin Pharmanex
Cosequin Puritan's Pride
CVS Rottapharm
Doctor's Best Schiff
Drinkables Symtec
HydraJoint Swanson
GLC TriMedica
Joint Max Twinlab
Karuna Vitamin World
Kirkland Walgreens
Maxi Health Weil

Tainted Pet Food Still On Shelves

It's being reported today that The Food and Drug Administration said it had inspected about 400 stores nationwide and still found some dog and cat food products affected by last month's recall by Canada-based pet food maker Menu Foods Income Fund and other manufacturers.

FDA officials have said the affected foods contained wheat gluten contaminated with melamine, an industrial chemical used in plastics and fertilizer. But the agency is still investigating what caused the confirmed death of 16 cats and dogs. About 12,000 pets have been reported ill.
